About the Series

The new documentary series Exposure from directors Chris Bennie and Nicola Chatham is a rich resource for educators, curators, artists and the general public alike.

Offering a unique insight into the personal lives and art practices of over twenty Queensland artists, the series captures a time in the state’s history when the Gallery of Modern Art has put Brisbane firmly on the International art scene’s map.

Exposure sets about recording in an unpretentious mode the lives and processes of award-winning, established and emerging artists. The series provides insight into a diverse range of contemporary art practices in Queensland today. By focusing on the aesthetic and conceptual concerns of individual artists, you will see contemporary uses of video, painting, installation, new media and photography.

Practicing artists themselves, the directors have captured moments ordinarily privy only to the featured artists’ piers.  The candid and occasionally comical style of observation reveals them as they are, talking amongst friends about conceptual ideals, artistic projects and private fears.
